3 A4 page excerpt of proposed script (Drama/Comedy)
500 word Treatment of FULL PLAY (Drama/Dance*/Comedy)

*If you are a Choreographer you still count as a Writer-Director and are expected to submit a treatment of the full play.

Queer Shorts Showcase Festival 2016 is COMING!

Bokamoso Bracelets: Tomorrow’s Change Today.

Inspired by the efforts and support of a young Motswana boy, Tshimo, Queer Shorts Showcase Festival organizer, Kat Kai Kol-Kes, has launched the "Bokamoso Bracelets" campaign. The 50 bracelet limited edition debut collection will be made to support LGBTI Visibility and Youth in Botswana. “This collaboration is a symbol of how educating our youth helps them free themselves” says Kol-Kes, “Tshimo is already a great LGBTI ally at the age of 9, and he will be making each bracelet. We’re excited to support his business.”

The official branding "Bokamo50" is inspired by Botswana’s upcoming 50^th Independence, with the name being inspired by the 2015 IDAHOT theme focusing on LGBT Youth. “Bokamoso, which means Future in Setswana, is hoped to inspire our allies to wear their support and hope, quite literally, on a sleeve” says Kol-Kes. The bracelets will each go for P35 ($3.53) each and will be on sale starting 8 May 2015. PRE-ORDER via qssfestival@gmail.com

#QSSFestival2015 Submission Guidelines

Thank you for considering submitting a proposal for the 2015 Queer Shorts Showcase Festival. 

Behind the #QSSFestival

The Queer Shorts Showcase Festival is Botswana’s first, and only, short theatre production festival focused on presenting original works dealing with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) themes through various theatrical modes. The festival was founded by Katlego K Kolanyane-Kesupile in 2014 and premiered on May 17, 2014.

AIMS:

The festival promotes interrogation of themes addressing LGBT livelihood in Botswana with the aim to generate conversations, promote socially relevant discourse, and educate residents of Botswana on these minority issues.

In your submission, please include:

1. Production synopsis. (200 words)

Title, cast size, description of work & running time (productions must run between 15-20 minutes).

2. Motivation for the relevance of the work. (50 words) 

What do you hope to change/achieve by showcasing this work? 

3. Biography/Biographies of production team.(100 words MAX)

4. Correctly formatted script excerpt (3 pages)

ALL submissions should be in Arial or Times New Roman, 12 pt, double line spacing, .docx or .pdf [Incorrect formatting will result in your proposal being discarded.]
